MIA SAROSI

CERAMIST

Mia hand throws her porcelain ceramics that she paints with expressive brushwork. She particularly enjoys the serendipity of her blue porcelain; for it was blue china that really made its mark on the European market when it was imported from the East and now, centuries later, she is sending back her hand painted blue designs to China.

Mia is particularly adept at painting nature: the flora and fauna that she sees in their natural habit in the Oxfordshire countryside. Her original designs can be personalised for celebratory gifts and her commissions range from breakfast sets to dog bowls.

Mia is a full member of the Society of Designer Craftsmen.

HANNAH GRIFFITHS

MOSAIC ARTIST

Hannah has designed and made mosaics for just about every surface within interiors including floors, kitchen splash backs, shower walls and patio tables. She has also completed art commissions for public buildings such as colleges and hospitals. Her skill is in the interpretation of nature: the trunks of silver birch trees, the shape and intensity of red chilli peppers and the texture of seed pods and has been inspired by floors in Italian churches, African textiles and Moroccan design when creating decorative pieces, such as vases and mirrors.

She employs traditional methods and, having undertaken the Master in Mosaic course at Orsoni, Venice, she now incorporates smalti (handmade enamelled glass) within her work, this brings an added vitality to her pieces.
